AI-Augmented Cyber Defense for the Internet of Things (IoT)

The exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has created vast opportunities but also unprecedented vulnerabilities across industrial, healthcare, and smart city infrastructures. Traditional security approaches are insufficient to handle the dynamic, large-scale, and heterogeneous nature of IoT ecosystems. This workshop focuses on AI-augmented cyber defense utilizing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and edge analytics to detect, predict, and mitigate cyber threats in real time. It aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to discuss emerging trends, innovative models, datasets, and deployment frameworks for resilient IoT security. Topics include AI-driven intrusion detection, federated learning for privacy-preserving defense, adversarial resilience, and trustworthy AI for cyber protection. The workshop will foster interdisciplinary collaboration, identify open research challenges, and explore practical applications that enable secure, adaptive, and intelligent IoT environments.

About Speaker

Prof. Balamurugan Balusamy is currently working as Professor and Chairperson, School of Engineering and IT, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai Campus, Dubai, UAE. Prior to this assignment he was an Associate Dean Student in Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Delhi NCR. His contributions focus on Engineering Education, Blockchain and Data Sciences. His Academic degrees and twelve years of experience working as a faculty in a global University like VIT University, Vellore have made him more receptive and prominent in his domain. He does have 200 plus high-impact factor papers in Springer, Elsevier and IEEE. He has written more than 80 Edited and authored books and collaborated with eminent professors across the world from top-ranked universities. Prof. Balamurugan Balusamy has served up to the position of Associate Professor in his stint of 12 years of experience with VIT University, Vellore. He had completed his Bachelor, Masters and PhD Degrees from Top premier institutions in India. His passion is teaching and adapting different design thinking principles while delivering his lectures. He has published 80+ books on various technologies and visited 15-plus countries for his technical course. He has several top-notch conferences in his resume and has published over 200 quality journal, conference and book chapters combined. He serves on the advisory committee for several startups and forums and does consultancy work for the industry on Industrial IoT. He has given over 195 talks at various events and symposiums.
